Arch Enemy have confirmed a long-awaited headline tour of Japan, scheduled for April 2012.

Michael Amott comments: "It’s not a very well guarded secret that Japan has been like a second home for Arch Enemy since we first started touring there in 1997. So it is with great joy and excitement that we are returning to celebrate the success of our ”Khaos Legions” album and play some great shows for our Japanese fans!"

Swedish Metal legend ARCH ENEMY have teamed up with the non-governmental Human Rights organisation Amnesty International for their upcoming “Khaos Over Europe” tour. The tour will kick off in Sweden on November 8th and brings the band back to the European clubs after playing many high profile festivals this summer as well as an extensive North American tour and a blistering show at the Loudpark Festival in Japan. Following up on the successful collaboration on the band’s recent North American tour, both parties are looking forward to spread the word about Amnesty International’s campaign “Expression Of Freedom”.
 
Amnesty International will be attending selected shows during the tour and will offer additional information for interested fans at the venues.
 
Angela Gossow comments: “We have Amnesty International with us again on the European leg of our ‘World Khaos’ tour to support their ‘Expression Of Freedom’ campaign and raise awareness. Many people sacrifice their lives to fight against terror, crime and oppression. They are being brutally murdered or imprisoned for simply communicating the truth. Angela Gossow was recently interviewed about growling techniques and her early influences by National Swedish SVT2 for a program about the human voice. The episode also features an interview with Diamanda Galás, an American avant-garde composer, vocalist, pianist, organist, performance artist and painter.

Growl, opera och Idol – Kobra om rösttrender.

 

Under hösten har vi överösts av tv-program där vanligt folk får chansen att sjunga ut, bedömas och tävla med sina röster. I TV3 heter programmet ”True Talent”, i TV4 har vi ”Idol” med sin beryktade jury. Snart kommer fler program – ”The Voice” i TV4. Sedan länge har proffsen fått sjunga och tävla i allt från ”Så skall det låta” till ”Melodifestivalen”. Varför sjunger Sverige så in i Norden, och varför tycker vi så mycket om att se på folk som sjunger - till och med när dom inte sjunger så bra? Vi pratar med Idoljuryns fruktade Alexander Bard samt med Tommy Körberg och Danny Saucedo som är coacher i True Talent.

 

Growling är en extrem form av strupsång som stammar ur death metal. Angela Gossow från det svenska bandet Arch Enemy är en av de få kvinnliga growlarna i världen. Kobra får en crash course i konsten att skrika utan att få ont i halsen.

 

Kristofer Lundström möter grekisk-amerikanska avantgardesångerskan, kompositören och pianisten Diamanda Galás, vars fantastiska röst sträcker sig över tre och en halv oktaver. Den allt annat än publikfriande röstkonstnären började som barn med att ackompanjera sin pappas gospelkör. Han ville inte att hon skulle sjunga, eftersom han ansåg att få som sjunger kan något om musik och sångerskor i själva verket är prostituerade. Men Diamanda gick sin helt egen väg och frammanar nu såväl vackra som fasansfulla ljud med sin stämma, men hon betonar att det krävs stark teknik och stor styrka för att kunna låta som hon gör.

Arch Enemy have recently returned back home from the ”North American Khaos 2011” tour (featuring Arch Enemy, Devildriver, Skeletonwitch and Chthonic) and have begun preparing their appearance at this year's edition of the Loud Park festival, set to take place October 15 at Saitama Super Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Saitama City, Japan.
