My final tour blog! It has been cold the last couple of days in Canada:
Vancouver, baby! Love the city and the Commodore Ballroom is neatly situated in a good shopping part of town. We all rush out to buy comfort foods.

Well, it depends on the person and its responsibilities. We all sleep pretty long, then sound check, then interviews, then jam backstage..
I am stuck in front of my laptop most of the day as I manage Arch Enemy. On this tour I had to advance 2 tours in Europe: A run in France, one in the UK and some early festivals. Go to http://www.archenemy.net/tours.php for info!
I also keep a very close eye on the current tour and its budget. We are self-managed since 2008 and it was the best decision we have ever made in our career. Suddenly we are not piss-poor anymore. The music business is full of leeches and cockroaches. They all take their percentage of the gross income and suddenly there is a big minus at the end of the budget after everybody else got paid. I am watching out for No. 1: Arch Enemy. These boys are my brothers and my family won’t get ripped off ever again. Power to the people!
Arsis had their van broken in twice. Total cost of the damage done about 1500 $. Not funny. Arsis really add value to the tour (I love them), so we decide to cover their damage. For us it’s a tax write off, for them it’s either eat or not to eat. They are my brothers too.
We got some awesome gear with us on tour. Sharlee is trying out Aguilar equipment – such beauties.. And if you are a gear nerd and wondered what we are hiding behind the scrims – here you go:
Border crossing again after Vancouver into Seattle. The 4th time. We are getting used to it and are all pretty much stoned out of our minds. I mean, you can’t waste any herbs, can ya? Well, the border patrol is cool, just wants to see our faces quickly and spares us the dogs and sticky little fingers through our bags bullshit. We are not stupid. They know that. Our history is as clean and smooth as a freshly powdered baby bottom. Never ever had any trouble.

Seattle – absolutely raging show:
I recently saw a documentary about the likeliness of an all-destroying sea earthquake plus tsunami in Seattle. Beautiful city. Lets hope mother nature has mercy and it wont ever happen. But its so very likely.. How does it feel to live at the edge of total disaster? I guess it feels like boarding a plane in Venezuela.. haha. Mint-coloured 70ies interior and you know that routine inspections haven’t been done since then. You also know you will be flying through at least 2 thunder storms with lightning bolts and heavy rain. So its not quite sure you will land in Colombia. But still you board that plane..
All 3 shows are raging. Lots of press and familiar faces. We got average a 1000 kids per show, the House Of Blues in LA is sold out.

Exodus get Zetro up on stage in SF. Awesome stuff! Both Zetro and Dukes are awesome front-men. I love it when people don’t hold a grudge, but move on and remember the good times they had. Life is way too short to waste one minute on negativity. Have your revenge if you must have, but don’t look back. Usually, living a happy life is the best payback anyway.

We have a killer show in San Francisco:
As usual, we end our tour in LA. We get all the insanity that is Hollywood. The biggest display of oversized plastic-tits. Those ladies.. when they turn a corner, their bosom shows up first, the rest of their usually tiny body about 5 minutes later. Is that fun? The triple D’s? What’s wrong with the modest B or C cup? I run every day for 90 minutes. Imagine I would have 5 pounds in front of me, bopping up and down. My back would kill me. Fuck no.

The Hollywood show is a fantastic ending to an uber-fantastic tour!
After the show its time to say heartfelt good-byes to our friends in Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within.
Too many strangers backstage, people from the business with AAA passes who really are just in the way.. All I wanna do is hug my brother ins metal, instead I get pulled left, right and centre for some stupid pictures with folks I really don’t care about. I hate being a facebook / myspace profile pic trophy. And we have to mark all our gear for shipment, get that sorted, pack our chaos bags, being thrown off the bus at 4am.. Stressful.
We all made it back home safely despite snow storms and delayed flights. This was by far the best US Tour we have done in the last 10 years! A huge ‘Thank you’ to Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within for being so easy going, professional and kick-ass on and off stage! Also our crew Beau, Shawn, Eddie, Clem, Josh for keeping the wheels running. Our FOH Clem provided me with pretty much all pictures for this blog! We love you and we will miss you terribly ‘til the next tour!!! Our label Century Media, Steve Joh, Brian Rocha and Ryan for an overkill of press – It helped a lot making this tour such a success! And Gerardo and Loana from Nuclear Blast for working their butts off for a band, that is not even on their roster – Arch Enemy! You both rule!
And last, but not least, the good metal heads at Vans for an endless supply of awesome sneakers and clothes and promo support!
Let’s just do this again end of 2011 – ok?!?!?! With a new Arch Enemy album and the will to kill.

We had such amazing shows in Canada! Over 5000 metal heads across Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary celebrated the sound of extreme, non-conform, anti-mainstream, in-your-face, brutal rebellion with us. We simply call it Heavy Metal ;-)
Big fat smiles all around. Our brothers in Exodus and Arsis tear up the place so hard every night that its almost too easy for us to bring the house down. We leave nothing but shadows and dust and happy metal hearts behind. We love Canada. Luckily, Canada loves us too!
Thus said, the show at the House Of Blues in Chicago was just incredible too. Crazy vibe, lots of of backstage media frenzy, meeting good old friends.. Fun!
Minneapolis rocked as well! And oh.. we have a lot of ladies at the shows. No sausage fest at an Arch Enemy gig. I got a whole army of brutal chicas behind me, hehe:

Oh yeah.. Hard drugs turn people into monsters. Don’t do it or you will lose your soul. Just stick with the ‘herbs’, will ya ;-)

Tyrants Of Evil US Tour 2010 - Part I
Hello everybody,
January.4.2010This is Angela checking in from the ‘Tyrants Of Evil US Tour’. We joined forces with Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within and are currently devastating the Northern part of America with our extreme brand of METAL  We all had a rather lame start in Towson, Recher Theatre. Old venue, crap PA, tired audience, all bands struggling with the ‘first show chaos’ and technical problems, haha.. boring. The show at the TLA in Philadelphia was a lot better and we all felt confident to face the 1700 cap. crowd at the Nokia Theatre in NYC the next day and rock ‘em hard. All bands get thrown out of the tour bus at 11am in the morning (middle of the night, so to speak) and we all crawl into the venue and to the coffee machine. Michael and Chris are jamming new and old tunes backstage all day long:   I am snoring on the couch, until Carmine Appice and my metal sis Doro Pesch burst into the backstage room!   Time to hit the stage! We are all massively excited. Just got news this is the biggest metal show in town since months. Hells yeah! Awesome crowd. We are loving it! Fantastic night. We are hurting a little. The Palladium is an old, classic theatre. Big stage, great room, good sound! Exodus are kicking butt and we get the last drops of blood out of the crowd. Hell of a show!  Now we have to face the challenge of the US/Canada border crossing. It will be an 8am misery morning affair as usual. We are certain not to carry firearms, pyros, illegal drugs or dead hookers on board and manage to jump over the fence within 2 hours. Besser spät als gar nicht – hier kommt der letzter Teil meines Tourtagebuches… Ich musste mal ein bisschen Familien-Glück einschieben nach dem Tour-Wahnsinn dieses Jahres. Aber an die letzten 4 Shows erinnere ich mich noch sehr gut, da sie genial waren!

Volles Haus an einem Dienstag, mit einem super gelaunten Publikum. Die Hamburger sind für Ihre Schwermütigkeit bekannt, aber davon haben wir nichts gemerkt! Totale Feier-Laune, schon bei Destruction geht’s fröhlich zur Sache. Wir freuen uns große, schwarze Löcher in den Bauch, spielen eine super Show und erklären Hamburg zur heimlichen neuen Lieblings-Stadt in Deutschland. Vielen Dank an unsere metallischen Hanseaten!!!

18-December-2009 @ JUZ Live Club, Andernach (Germany)
In Andernach erwartet uns dann Schneesturm und ein ausverkaufter Club! Meine Bruder Benni und David wollen kommen, leider landet Benni im falschen Zug und merkts erst mitten in der tiefsten Eifel. David schafft es und ich bekomme endlich ein Foto mit ihm und seinem kosmischen Zwillingsbruder Eddie – unser Backline Tech – der genau 366 Tage jünger ist. Die 2 sehen aus wie Zwillinge nebeneinander. Sind aber absolut nicht verwandt. Abgefahren!
Andernach geht voll ab:
Als wir nach dem Konzert die Backstage Tür aufmachen, erwarten uns antarktische Schneestürme und -10 Grad draußen. Krass. Hoffentlich kommen wir heil in Leipzig an! Der Bus schlittert und schleicht sich durch die weiße Hölle. Wir trinken Tee mit Rum und machen uns dann einfach mal keine Sorgen. Nützt eh nichts. Michael und Chris spielen uns ein ‚Gute Nacht’ Lied

Oh. Und wir sind angekommen! Jetzt sind’s – 14 Grad und auch hier ist es weiß und unser FOH Clem und Michael frieren sich die Nasen rot, wobei sie von einer sehr doom-metal-mässigen Krähe beargwöhnt werden:
Hoffentlich kommen die Leipziger Metalheads trotzdem! Mit Skiern und Eispickel, wenn’s sein muss ;-) Und ja, sie kommen!!! Vielen Dank an alle diese mutigen Fans – Ihr seid echte Helden! Während einem draußen die Gliedmassen erfrieren, ist’s schön warm im Club. Bei Destruction schmilzen dann die Gletscher und bei uns gibt’s dann Schwedische Sauna mit Schweiß-Aufguss. Die Halle dampft, die Haare fliegen!
Ein großes ‚Hells Fucking Yeah’ an alle Bands, die uns auf dieser tollen Tour begleitet haben: Destruction, Abigail Williams, Triosphere und Angelus Appatrida. Vor allem Destruction sind uns total ans Herz gewachsen und wir hoffen, noch mal was zusammen machen zu können! Und natürlich ein fettes Dankeschön and die vielen tausend Fans, die zu den Shows gekommen sind, die Magazine, Firmen und Medien, die uns bei der Promo unterstützt haben. One For All And All For One – We Are One! Nemesis!

Metal Hammer tour blog 2009 - Part III [GERMAN] Prost an alle Kutten und Matten,
Heute sind wir in Hamburg.. und ich schreibe den 3. Teil meines Tour-Tagebuches während Destruction das Publikum in den Hintern tritt.

Amsterdam ist wie immer ein absolutes Highlight. Tolle Stadt, leckere Sachen in den Coffee-Shops ;-) strahlend blauer Himmel für ein paar Stunden.. Ich würde spontan ‘Ja’ sagen zu einem Umzug der Band dorthin! Schweden ist um diese Jahreszeit grausam. Die Suizid-Rate schnellt in die Höhe bei totaler Dunkelheit ab 2 Uhr nachmittags (‘totalt jävla mörkhet’ auf Schwedisch = total fucking darkness), Regen und Temperaturen zwischen +2 und -10 Grad. Schnee hatten wir in Süd-Schweden schon lange nicht mehr so richtig..
Um 20 Uhr latschen wir alle zum ‚Fame’ CD Store in der Innenstadt und signieren CDs, Tits’n’Asses von hunderten von Fans.

Destruction - Total Desaster ( Holland 2009 )
Destruction Mike und Arch Mike sieht man noch lange nach der Show über alte Zeiten und Thrash-Metal Juwele diskutieren. Beide sind Fan vom jeweils anderem.. großes Gefühls-Kino bei Grolsch und billigem Wein!
Wir gehen heute ohne Backdrop und Scrims auf die Bühne. Unsere Crew hat unsere gesamte Deko in der Schweiz vergessen. Wir treten quasi nackt vor 1200 Fans auf und verteilen jeweils 100 Peitschen-Hiebe an die Verantwortlichen. Das letzte Mal haben sie alles in Japan vergessen.. Sind also Wiederholungs-Täter ;-)
Arch Enemy Ravenous Live:
Satans Convention in Lengerich ist leider etwas lahm, so dass Satan damit auch nichts mehr zu tun haben will und früh nen Abflug macht. Als wir am Ende des Tages auf die Bühne gehen, bekommen wir zwar Applaus aber keinerlei heavy metallische Aktion im Publikum mehr initiiert. Einer von Taake benimmt sich auch noch so dermaßen daneben, das Schmier ihn übers Knie legen muss. Wer Schmier kennt, weiß dass das für den Gegenüber nicht so lecker ausgeht. Aber die Hiebe waren wohlverdient. Wer nicht hören will, muss halt irgendwann mal fühlen.
Michael hat auch noch ne Signing Session im nahgelegendem ‚Musik-Produktiv’ Store.. hier ein paar Fotos von netten Gitarren und Besuchern:
Wir sind froh endlich abzudüsen und zwar wieder Richtung Holland (Vorrat auffüllen, hehe). Rijssen ist klein, aber fein. Ein gemütlicher Gig im Lucky Club, sehr nettes Publikum, etwas zu relaxt.. aber es ist Sonntag und alle sind wochenend-geschädigt. Auch wir. Es hustet und schnupft kräftig im Bus.. Nach monatelangem Touren gehen uns jetzt doch langsam die Kräfte aus. Alles aus dem Arch Enemy Feld-Lazarett dann in meinem nächsten Tourblog. Ich trink jetzt erstmal heißen Rum mit Sahne und hoffe, die Viren ergriffen die Flucht.

Hach ja.. Portugal war schön. Wir mussten das:

leider hinter uns lassen. Blaues Meer und super enthusiastische Fans. Ne klasse Kombi!!
Milwookis Metal Fest in Cantabria, Spanien war etwas langweilig. Seelenlose Sport-Halle, das Publikum viel zu weit weg hinter nem meterlangen Photograben.. Und so viele waren mehr damit beschäftigt, das Konzert durch ihre kleine Handycam aufzunehmen, als tatsächlich mit Herz und Seele dabei zu sein. Ich finde es schade.. Dadurch geht so viel echtes Leben verloren. Einen Song aufnehmen ist ja cool. Aber den ganzen Gig über mit der Kamera da stehen..?
Razzmatazz ist ne altbekannte Venue. Da haben alle tourenden Bands irgendwann schon mal gespielt. Bisschen verramscht, 20% Kommi auf Merch finde ich auch übertrieben… Aber die Shows sind dort immer gut!

Nach Barcelona lassen wir die immer qualmenden Spanier hinter uns (Mund-Krebs, Zungen-Krebs, Lungen-Krebs, Kehlkopf-Krebs, Magen-Krebs.. noch nie was von gehört???) und rollen in Frankreich ein. Ich wache vor dem Club auf und sehe als allererstes nen Langhaarigen mit Baguettes in ner Tüte – und weiß sofort, wo wir sind!
Montpellier – zum ersten und definitiv nicht zum letzten Mal! Club ist voll bis obenhin!!! Chris hat ne gute Zeit – auf der Bühne:

Daniel hat diesen Moment nur sehr knapp überlebt und ist zurzeit immer noch in post-traumatischer Psycho-Behandlung!

Aarau, Kiff – Auch unser erstes Mal und ausverkauft. Tolle Stimmung, echt netter Club, lecker Essen, nette Crew – Wir kommen gerne wieder!!!
Und ab morgen machen wir dann gemeinsame Sache mit Destruction und werden wie ‘mad’ Holland und Deutschland ‘butchern’! Abigail Williams, die seit Beginn mit uns unterwegs sind – total nette Jungs, hart arbeitende Band! Checkt sie auf jeden Fall mal an!

Hallöchen Metal Hammer online Leser!
November.20.2009Arch Enemy sind immer noch auf Tour – diesmal in Europa! Diese Shows haben wir bis dato gespielt: 27-November-2009 @ Block 33 Club, Thessaloniki (Greece) 28-November-2009 @ Gagarin 205 Club, Athens (Greece) 01-December-2009 @ Sala Heineken, Madrid (Spain) 02-December-2009 @ Sala Q, Sevilla (Spain) 04-December-2009 @ Incrivel Almadense, Almanda / Lisboa (Portugal) Griechenland war klasse. Beide Shows proppevolles Haus, super Essen (außer an die Omelett-Teigtaschen haben wir uns nicht mehr getraut.. Das letzte Mal hat Michael danach das gesamte Flugzeug voll gekotzt), kompetenter Promoter, gute Clubs. Und superlaute Fans. So was macht Spaß!!! Hier 2 Clips: Revolution Begins in Thessaloniki! Intro / The Immortal in Athen Nach dem Luxus in Griechenland geht’s dann mit den grottenschlechten Vuelning Airlines (wie Ryanair aber mit WENIGER Sitzraum! Ja.. das ist möglich! Sharlee hatte seine Knie überm Kopf. Der arme 2-Meter Mann!) nach Barcelona, wo uns ein etwas muffiger Tour-Bus erwartet. Ab jetzt heisst es Zähne zu und durch. Touren ist ungemütlich, nur die Shows machen wirklich Spaß. Und meine Jungs – die hab ich alle lieb. Immer, wenn mir eigentlich zum Weinen ist (oder eher.. zum Kotzen), bringen Sie mich zum Lachen. Und umgekehrt. Nimm's mit Humor. Bester Tipp fürs Touren. Wir fahren über Nacht nach Madrid – dort beginnt unsere ‘Viva Espana’ Tour. Und wieder überall volles Haus. Sehr erstaunlich, da wir hier so gut wie gar nicht vorher getourt haben. Hier ein paar coole Bilder. Ich frage mich, was die Langzeit-Schäden von Headbanging sind.. Extreme Aggression? Dann sollte ich damit aufhören, haha.    Oh.. In Sevilla haben wir uns entschieden, eine ‘Toiletten-Bilder-Sammlung’ anzulegen für diese Tour. Da kommen so einige krasse Schei..-loecher zusammen. Ich pinkel lieber in einen Mülleimer und kack hintern Busch, als mich diesen Grotten zu nähern. Hand-Sanitizer ist ein Muss auf Tour!!! Sevilla – Wer braucht schon ne Tür, Klodeckel und Papier?! Musiker sind doch eh alles Tiere, richtig.. Auch nett.  Dafür war die Show super!!! Ravenous in Sevilla! Und Lissabon war bis oben in die Balkone dicht. Volles Haus. Ging keine Heavy Metal Maus mehr rein.. Aber erstmal noch nen schönes Klo:  Oh.. nicht nur, dass der Sitz auch hier fehlt. Die Spülung hat’s auch nicht getan. the typhoon has parked his violent core far off the coast above the ocean..
Which means our flights are on and nobody is in danger coming to the show. Our first gig in Manila is going to happen!
And it comes with a giant bat and pyros (probably no license, haha..) Our promoters from Pulp magazine are taking very good care of us. Nice hotel, way too much food and lot of excitement about the show tomorrow. We are the first European metal band to stir up some live madness over here. Damn. Its about time!
Michael and Daniel doing a signing for Dean Guitars / Pearl Drums before the show. Next day will be a very early flight and a show in Hong Kong. So I sleep most of the day.. Kinda refilling my batteries for the next 36 hours of sleep depravity to come.
I am totally awake and ready to do this show. I wanna see the giant bat in action.. It blows a lot of smoke during 'My Apocalypse'.. Funny shit!

Tyrants Of Evil Asia Tour 2009 - Part II 18-October-2009 @ Liberty Square - Taipei (Taiwan)
You don't wanna know how it feels to get up at 4.30 am in Tokyo, board a plane at 8am and then play a show at 8pm in another country - Taiwan. It really screws with your head and makes you feel like day dreaming and moon walking.
I can't remember much from the day. Land at noon in Taipei, get in a van. Drive to the hotel. Smells different here. Fish. Weird plants. Car exhaust. Check into room. Shower. Drop into bed, sleep 2 hours. Alarm rings. Get up again, shower again. Very tired. Drive to venue, warm up voice. Get up on stage. Different setlist tonight!

Yeah.. I actually recognize some faces in the crowd. It is our 2nd time here in Taipei. They finally wake me up with their enthusiasm. Very cool show. Angela Tyrants Of Evil Asia Tour 2009 - Part I This was – hands down – the toughest tour we have done so far. So many flights, countries, new places, old friends and very early wake up calls.. I didn't think it would go so smoothly and we would actually make our 42 hour flight from New Zealand via San Francisco and Frankfurt back home to Copenhagen airport. But we did! And here I am, trying to remember the crazy ride we have been on for a whole month

Nice to meet Shawn Drover from Megadeth, lots of cool fans at the meet’n’greet, Tetsu & Aya from our label Trooper Entertainment, the lovely Creative Man crew, our friends.. Japan is our 2nd home. Has been for a while. If I could just afford an apartment in Tokyo, haha.. Well, we will just keep coming back ‘til the end of our days! A million thanx to our fans for the raging show!
